  TILAPIA STOCKING MAY 2010

SupremeBass stocked 1500 Tilapia in May,2010.  These prolific breeding forage fish
are seen frequently in the shallow waters and appear white in color.  They reproduce every 28 days and are mature sexually at three inches in length.

These fish will have the following impact on our already excellent fishing:

1.  They are a valuable shallow water forage base that draw large bass in to shore.
White or pearl colored jerk baits are already producing some very nice bass.

2.  These fish are completely herbivorous plant eaters who will eliminate skunk weed
and filamentous algae, thus improving our fisherman's success in bottom
worm fishing.

3.  These fish die out naturally whenever the water temp hits around 55 degrees.
That means these fish become very lethargic in the Fall and become easy prey
for bass of all sizes to gorge themselves.  Data suggests bass can gain up to 25
percent in body mass each year based on the Fall tilapia consumption   We do not expect a large number of dead Tilapia around the banks this Fall, other lakes have not had an issue with that problem.
